Happy Mid-Autumn Festival 中秋节 2010!

Posted September 22nd, 2010 by Peter · 10 Comments

Hi there SAPL Family, and Happy Mid-Autumn Festival (the Asian New Years).

We at Stuff Asian People Like just wanted to wish you a wonderful 中秋节 wherever you are! We all have traditions no matter what part of Asia we are from, so we’d like for you to share yours. In Vietnam, we would typically be celebrating Tết Trung Thu by lighting lanterns to lead Cuội, whose wife urinated on a sacred banyan tree (which sent him to the moon) back to earth (sounds crazy, but we know there are crazier things out there, just read any of our posts).

Top that with a couple of moon cakes, lion dances (too bad there are no lucky red envelopes); and you’ve got one heck of a Tết Trung Thu!

Happy Asian New Years! Where are you from? How do you celebrate your Mid-Autumn Festivals? Are there any special traditions you and your families share? Please comment!

Hey, the red envelope is for new year, not the moon festival!!

In Singapore, we eat mooncakes and play with lanterns (and candles and sparklers) in the park. There’d be Chinese word riddles hung up for people to guess as well. My boyfriend and I went to play with some lanterns and do some light-painting. :D

Tis is cool site! I like your poll with the question “What does an Asian mean by saying “Arrive at 5:00.” Cuz I’m Asian, and to me, that would never mean arrive @ 5:00.

“Among the many baseball players and available shirts, shirts, Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez are definitely the most popular and sold well in recent years. These two top-selling MLB jersey are the most duplicates. Remember to check out that there are no problems of legitimacy. As with any shirt other than a broker, check the MLB logo on the jersey, sewing properly, and other signs of replica jerseys.”
